Antique Rare IVES O Gauge #25 Cast Iron Clockwork 4-4-0 Locomotive & 4 Wheel Tender Ca. 1908 Working
This is a super nice rare antique IVES O Gauge #25 cast iron clockwork 4-4-0 locomotive with tin 4 wheel tender. The IVES Mfg. Co. was in business from1868 to 1932 and this locomotive dates from 1908 - 1911. It is in very nice original condition with minimal paint loss mostly on the front wheels and smokestack. As far as I can tell, the paint is original and retains some shine. There are also a few minor nicks/chips.
The original key is included and the motor winds up and it runs. There is a lever inside the cab to switch and run in forward or reverse and it does work and runs both ways. The bell is still intact which many times got broken off. I'm not sure if something may be missing in the front section as there is a hole in the plate that holds the 4 wheels that may have had a screw.
The IVES 4 wheel tender is in very good condition with minor scratches and paint loss. I'm not sure if it is original to the #25 locomotive but is very nice. It has some type of mechanism and what looks like a paper speaker (with tears) on the bottom which apparently made some kind of sound when moving.
These No. 25 locomotives are very hard to find especially in this great working condition so don't miss out. This is the first one we have seen in 10 plus years of selling on ebay.
Also included is a custom wood display which someone made with track and a nameplate that reads "IVES No. 25  1908-1911" which makes a very nice way to display this rare IVES toy.
